                                     ADVANTAGES OF ADVERSITY

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD ,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Jeremiah 29:11-12

Fanny Crosby was only six weeks old
when she developed a little trouble with her eyes.
Her doctor was careless with the treatment,
and his treatment blinded her.

Fanny Crosby loved the Lord.
Because He had forgiven her, she forgave the doctor,
and her blindness made her better, not bitter.

In her blindness she saw God more clearly,
she wrote hymns more prolifically,
and she guided people to God more successfully

Adversity was a springboard to achievement for Fanny Crosby.
She wrote more than eight thousand hymns.

What is adversity to you?

Prayer:

How grateful we are, heavenly Father,
for Thy constant companionship,
Thy limitless love, and Thy measureless mercy.
lnspire us daily to love Thee more,
to serve Thee better, and please Thee greatly.
Hear our prayers: in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Frances Jane (Fanny) Crosby
1820-1915

My friend, Mrs. Joseph F. Knapp, composed a melody
and played it over to me two or three times on the piano.
She then asked what it said. I replied, “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!”

sorry sound plugin missing

Blessèd assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain

Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
