It is important that we always have a humble heart
and not think of
ourselves more highly than we ought.
The Bible says in Proverbs
16:18,
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a
fall.”
Having a haughty spirit means to be arrogant and have disdain
for those
they view as unworthy. We need to remember that we all
came from dust
and
will one day return to dust.
Being prideful and thinking of ourselves
more
highly than we ought
to think is something that should be non-existent.
The Bible tells us to be humble because God resists the proud,
but He
gives
grace to the humble.
We are to recognize God’s superiority and know that
it is in Him that we receive our strength and ability.
(Romans 12:1-3) (Genesis 3:19) (1 Peter 5:5)
This is a good story that shows the end result of having a proud heart.
I
pray this message ministers to your heart to always be humble
in the
sight
of the Lord and know that acknowledging God
and thanking Him for your
daily
blessings will lead your life
to the high pastures that God has prepared
for those with a humble heart.
(Psalm 84:11-12)
HOW THE PROUD FROG FELL
In a certain pond lived two wild ducks and a frog.
They were the best of
friends.
All day long they played together. When the hot summer came,
the
pond began to dry up. Soon there was so little water that they
realized
they would have to move. Now the ducks could easily fly to another pond,
but what about their friend, the frog?
Finally, it was decided that the ducks would put the two ends of a stick
in their bills. Then the frog could hang onto the middle of the stick
with
his mouth, and the ducks would fly him to another pond.
As they were flying low, a farmer in his field looked up;
and when he
saw
the strange formation, he said,
“Well, isn't that a clever idea!
I
wonder
who thought of that?”
The frog opened his big mouth and said, “I did!”
Then down he fell to his death.

We should never have an “I did it” attitude.
The inspiration and
revelation
that we receive to complete
different tasks always comes from the spirit
of
the Lord.
The Bible declares in Zechariah 4:6, “...Not by might, nor by
power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” It is through God's
power that we succeed and live an abundant life and for us to have an
arrogant attitude that says we are better than someone else will
eventually
lead our life down the path of destruction.
(Deut. 8:18) (Isaiah 64:6-7)
We need to remember that it was pride that brought Lucifer
from the
heights
of heaven down to the destruction of hell.
The devil's pride was
recorded
in the Bible as we read in Isaiah 14:13-15, “For thou hast said in thine
heart, I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars
of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides
of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be
like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides
of the pit.”
Throughout the Bible we see how pride brings people down
and
this account of Lucifer's fall is another example.
Let us never make the same mistake that Lucifer made.
In his quest to be
like the Most High God,
he was brought down lower than any other created
Being.
I encourage you to have a humble heart and be quick to thank God
for every gift He has given you.
Never allow pride to enter into your
heart
and life.
It will ruin your future and lead your life down the path of
destruction,
but when you humble yourself before the eyes of the Lord;
God
in His mercy, will lift you up to heights
that you never thought
imaginable.
(Romans 12:16-21) (Psalm 30:10-12)
(Isaiah 13:11) (James 4:10)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
1 Peter 5:5-7
“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your
elders.
Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed
with
humility, for God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that He may
exalt
you in due time,
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
Proverbs 6:16-19
“These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an
abomination to Him:
A proud look, A lying tongue,
Hands that shed
innocent
blood,
A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running
to evil,
A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among
brethren.”
Psalm 138:6-8
“Though the Lord is on high, Yet He regards the lowly;
But
the proud He knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You
will revive me;
You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my
enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will perfect that
which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake
the
works of Your hands.”
