WHEN THE WIND BLOWS

Years ago a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast.
He constantly advertised for hired hands.  Most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic.  They dreaded the awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops.  As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received nothing but refusals. Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer.

"Are you a good farm hand?" the farmer asked him.

"Well, I can sleep when the wind blows," answered the little man.

Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired
him.  The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work.

Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.  Jumping out of
bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters.  He shook the little man and yelled, "Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!" The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, "No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows."

Enraged by the old man's response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot.  Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm.  To his
amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had been covered with tarpaulins.  The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred.  The shutters were tightly secured.

Everything was tied down. Nothing could blow away.  The farmer then understood what his hired hand meant, and he returned to bed to also sleep while the wind blew.

The Moral of The Story Is This:

When you're prepared, you have nothing to fear.  Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he had secured the farm against the storm.  We secure ourselves against the storms of life by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and by grounding ourselves firmly in the Word of God.

Before Jesus died on the cross, He said, "It Is Finished."  All the work
that was needed for humanities salvation was completed that day when Jesus took upon Himself the sins of the world and died in our stead.  Those who have accepted Jesus as the Lord of their life no longer have to worry about the storms of life, because they have left it all in His hands.  Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (John 19:30) (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

When this world tries its hardest to make you feel condemned,
I encourage you to think of the completed work of the Lord Jesus Christ.  All religions tell you to "do do do" in order to be accepted by God, but for the Lord Jesus, He says, "Done!"

All we need to do is take comfort and rest in His finished work and come to trust Him as the Lord of your life.  If you have never made the decision to open your heart to Jesus, I encourage you to do so today.

There is no better day to start fresh with God, like today. Call upon Him and let Jesus calm every fear and take every burden off of your life.  He promises to do that and more if only you call upon Him.
(John 14:1-6) (John 3:15-17) (2 Corinthians 6:2) (Revelation 3:20)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Joshua 1:8-9 "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way
prosperous, and then you will have good success. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Psalm 34:3-8 "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name
together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not
ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!"

Mark 4:37-41 "And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!"

Psalm 91:14-16 God declares "Because he has set his love upon Me,
therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known
My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him
in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy
him, And show him My salvation."
