O Lord, our God, in great distress we call
upon You,
for You alone are our refuge and help.
We and our nation have sinned against You, O
God.
We have been self-indulgent, seeking material wealth above all else.
We have
disobeyed Your commandments
and even opened the doors to blasphemy.
And now because of our
sins the walls of our nation are down
(Isaiah 5:5)
and we are experiencing the scourge of
terrorism,
which is threatening to ruin this and other countries.
We call upon You in this
time of fear and peril.
Save us from our enemies.
Let our supplications come before You.
Mercifully hear our prayers for the sake of Jesus' outpoured blood.
We entreat You to prevent the terrorists
from
gaining control in our country.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Lord Jesus
Christ, Our mighty Victor,
we plead with You to destroy their plans according to the scripture,
Take counsel
together, but it will come to nought' (Isaiah 8:10).
Frustrate the plans of the
terrorists.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
We pray that further attempts at
hostage-taking and assassination
will not succeed.
Cover potential targets with Your blood
and protect them from all attacks.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Frustrate the schemes of the terrorists
by
creating disunity and confusion among them.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Graciously avert further assaults.
Let
bombs and other explosives
be discovered in time and safely defused.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Prevent the theft of weapons, bank
robberies, extortion
and anything else that would assist
or finance acts of violence
planned by terrorists.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Prevent those bent on doing evil
from
infiltrating key positions of influence in our nation.
Expose all corruption and confusion
that would hinder the rooting out of terrorism.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Protect all those involved in the search
for terrorists.
Guide them in their decisions.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
Help judges and all those appointed to
uphold justice,
so that they will be true to the fundamental
principles of law and
justice,
despite any threat to their personal safety.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
May at least some of Your enemies, Lord
Jesus,
be delivered from the destructive power of Satan
and experience Your transforming
power.
We pray that You would turn many a Saul' into a Paul'.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
We pray that these critical times will
serve
to bring about a wholesome shock among Christians and in our nation,
rousing us all
from apathy and false security.
Convict us of our sins, especially our rebelliousness,
defiance, bitterness and hatred, by which we have contributed
towards the advance of
terrorism.
Make us truly repentant, O Lord,
so that our prayers will come from
the depths
of a humble heart and be effective.
Grant that Christians everywhere will be moved
to pray
and that many prayer groups will be formed,
so that You can send help and prevent
further destruction and chaos.
|
|
Lord, have mercy, for You alone are our Helper and our Salvation,
to whom all power is given in heaven and on earth. |
God is our refuge and strength, an
ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and
the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
Psalm 46:1-2 NIV
