Hi All,

Interesting don't you think re riots in England, fatherless children, children without morals or ethics?

Is Cameron leaving God/Christ out perhaps on purpose or by accident?

Quote
We each make choices and decisions based on our value systems. Godlessness has only produced selfishness and greed. The well-tried Christian faith has given us hope in the past and can do so again now.

Is it too late for this generation? And can parents reverse their own courses to teach these principles to their young?

RA,

I don't know where you quoted this from. I couldn't find it in Colin's link
Quote
Godlessness has only produced selfishness and greed

But it is simply not true. Especially with the word "only" in it
There are so many good, unselfish people on the planet who do not have faith in God or Yeshua

One of the things we do all too often is make general statements. The above is one of them.
Yes, weakening family ties, are a potential way of creating greedy, selfish people. But It is not a clear cut result by a long shot.

Hi Hupo,

Well here is another saying that probably isn't directly quoted in the main quote above but is in the spirit of the Thread,

Without Christ and the faith imparted by Christ all good works are worthless.  Not only worthless but without Christ all people are worthless too, good or bad!

Cruel no doubt but only the believer is going to heaven, depend on anything else evolution or man made science and you most surely are on the road to Hell!

Yours in Christ,

Colin.

Colin

Worthless in who's eyes?
If it's in God's eyes then the unbeliever disagrees with this anyway
We can stop counting unbelievers, but personally, I do not wish to go alone to heaven, thank you very much

and just by the way, God doesn't either

You know Colin, what you say may be true but it sure puts a lot of people off this whole "Faith thing"!!

I don't know if this is blasphemy or not but I would rather die with sinners than go alone to God's kingdom!!

It makes me very sad to hear such views. I am hoping I don't read you correctly.

As far as the accuracy of the quote, I think we all agree that the human condition is selfishness, greed and many other things.

As non-believers we have those qualities.

As believers we still can have those qualities. We actually do have them.

Non-believers may, in living under moral rules in their lives limit their baser natures and be giving generous people who respect others.

This has nothing to do with faith. For you cannot morally work out your way to God without accepting his Son's way because it's the only way.

One more thing, as believers, if we aren't becoming more like Yeshua, more selfless, we might want to question whether we are disciples or not.

BTW, I have had to do this from time to time.

Thank you RA,

First I must apologize if it sounded like I was blaming you for that quote. I wasn't. I disagreed with it but couldn't find the original.

I am very clear as to the need for asking the question you mentioned.... am I a disciple or not?
My dilemma is between the commandments we need to follow in order to be disciples...on one hand
and the leeway we have according to Yeshua's own conduct which was many time through love.
Rules are clearer to understand. God's conduct through love is harder because many times it seems to clash with the rules themselves.
We have it in another topic: Murder as opposed to Euthanasia for instance.
While we are debating these dilemmas, we each have our way of siding more to one side or the other, until we know for sure
I realize my preference is more towards turning a blind eye than whacking over the head, which is not always the way. But until I know for sure, this is my preference. What I mean is that being more selfless doesn't mean we should be more of a hard-liner

I don't know about you Colin. I am a sinner just as all...... well..... most of the human race.
If you are something else, then I guess we shall not meet in the afterlife. Not up to me anyway (works?)
Pity, it could have been fun meeting you of all people  Wink

Hi Hupo,

If you leave Unbeliever out of the definition of a sinner you are exactly right about that view of yours above.  I think Ruth has already answered that one.

Just maybe you should reconsider the Name Yahweh/Yeshua in favour of Jesus Christ.  Again we come across the problem of your defining/redefining Jesus Christ in favour of your Jewish background perhaps!

One of the most useful uses of The Internet is the thinking without contact perhaps but it's draw back is it allows individuality first without sociality which has always amounted to decision been taken by committee in the Church, any church, a socialist compromise contaminated today by Religious Liberalism, God forbid.

1.  Unbeliever with good works worthless before Salvation!

2.  First convert to the Faith?  Then fruits of good works after conversion added to the crown but not the Salvation!

3.  Both Christian sinner and unbelieving sinner will be Judged from the Book of Life on what you end up at mortal death, will you be in The Book of Life or not found there perhaps?

You are either in Heaven afterward or in Hell after death!

The Key lies in what you believe not in what your good-works are or how many they are!

Yours in Christ, David, He is the only way,

Colin.

PS.  Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ and you will be saved.  Don't believe on His promise and you will be lost.

PPS.  A hard message from One, Jesus, who had a hard death for you?

PPPS.  With or without your unbelieving sinners in your family.  A hard message and a hard but firm result in The Believers life decisions?

Colin,

I have no patience right now for this thread. You will have to excuse me.
We've just had a terrorist attack down South and Israel beings such a small country, one is bound to know someone who was killed or hurt.
My daughter with her husband and 3 kids live in Eilat, close to the attack area, so, no I am not in the "loving my neighbor" mood
Loving my neighbors right now is a huge test with the Hamas being our neighbors.
May God help me with that. On my own, I hate their guts and hope they die a horrible death!!

I'll get back here when it's over and things calm down....

David

I've been praying too since I heard that report this morning. This was a little different than a missile shot into Israel. This was a concerted co-ordinated attack from inside Israel. They're on highest alert.
Father, it's hard to know what to pray for. Truly I beg for protection for David and his family, all. And for all the people in Israel as they deal with this another horrible terror attack that has taken many lives and injured many more. Father, please turn the hearts of those who don't know you toward your Son, Jesus. Bring salvation to many many in Israel. Please give our brother David your love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Help us all grow in you and lead us by your Spirit. Guide the Israeli government in their actions, Lord. We love these people, Father, for you do. I pray for them and want nothing but good for them. Thank you Lord for your love and goodness. And your Son. In Jesus' name, amen.

Hi David,

Don't even let it cross your mind.  We observe here the Arab version of love thy neighbour.  It makes the riots in England look like a kiddies tea party!

I also ask The LORD to put His hand and powerful Blood on the situation in Southern Israel where you border with Egypt.

I am sure the LORD will give to those men of violence that which they deserve.  A desert where their once was harvest and a place where the Sun burns the skin!

Yours in Christ and His steadying influence on those who want Armageddon to be a little early this year in Arabia!

Thank you all for your prayers
it makes this forum feel like family

My family are OK although the whole South is on alert, naturally

The missiles were expected after the retaliation by the IDF. This is nothing new, even if not exactly the most "comfortable" situation

Looks like we are in for a few days of warfare

Well, God has His plans and the outcome will be what HE decides and no one else
