Hi All,
I am very surprised to hear that they are not already there! A minefield well sign posted and also well laid is still one of the most effective ways of defence of territory!
I suspect that the news today are not telling the full story, surely Israel is strengthening what already exists and filling in the gaps!
Not trespasses will be prosecuted but been given a free ticket to heaven as well!
Not a pleasant subject but saves having to shoot them instead which the newspapers just love to dramatise!
But isn't Jesus wonderful He just writes and reminds us of rules and regulation on what not to do and what to do,
Yours in Christ,
Colin.

Colin,
There are several reasons for not having mines on the border, and I assume you mean the Egyptian border...
It's a long and hard grounded area. Starting from Eilat in the South there are granite hills everywhere. Beautiful to be sure but not a place for mines unless you want to drill in rock for each one. Further up North towards the Gaza strip it is flatter and easier "mine plantation" grounds but from experience in the past we know it is also a place where water runs in floods when it rains. The floods take the mines with them and distribute them all over the area. Israelis like to hike the country and there have been cases where people were hurt by these "floating mines". On the other hand, If you bury them deep enough so they don't move, they are less effective when needed and many times just don't work. Another consideration is the fact that most of the trespassers are refugees from African countries we have good relations with and we don't want wounded or worse civilians on our hands. Hence the fence rather than mine fields
By the way, this is precisely the reason for having that huge wall build between us and the West bank. Can you imagine what we would be up against if the Palestinians infiltrating the border mostly for work reasons, where to be blown up by mines?!

Hi David,
There always has to be something to make killing and maiming people, (WAR!), more difficult to apply!
You could always import two foot of soil and plant them there but unfortunately floods might wash the lot away!
Drilling holes in the rock not a good idea as that would tell everybody where they were. Of course you could use dummies sometimes not a bad idea but then what the heck?
Now I see why your security wall but you need electronic listening devices and cameras too!
Next machine gun nests controlled by the cameras and an incompetent computer to control everything! I am sure we could supply you with one of ours. The Revenue Computer springs to mind it doesn't speak English of the common Englishman!
I will go away and think, it hurts you know?
But isn't Jesus wonderful we could always pray over it and await His answer,
Colin.

Colin, good morning
Killing people is a very efficient way of making sure your enemies don't rise up against you Yet killing people doesn't go well with "thou shalt not kill" or even with "love your enemy" So we have other , more "humane" ways of dispursing a violent crowd for instance 1. A vehicle that squirts very smelly stuff on the active violent mob 2. A machine that makes terrible agonizing noises (maybe someone at the dentist?) Sounds amusing but it works!

Agonising sounds? Ah yes, modern music for the youth!

If we're already into the killing business....
You know, the commandment "thou shalt not kill" says nothing about hurting people, breaking their bones, pulling their nose off or just being plain nasty to them, as long as you don't kill them. I don't believe God forgot about these things. So what do you think covers the above? If "Love your neighbor as yourself" covers it, why would we need the 10 commandments? and the more important question is : what on earth has this got to do with the opening subject?!

The fence was a great idea. We need one on our southern border.
