 off_topicHello Olivet

Did you like the "signature" I suggested for you?

off_topic2 It is sad when Catholic priests fall from grace, commit such horrendous sin, and bring such disgrace upon the Church. However, speaking as a Protestant, it is fair to say that such behaviour is not confined to the Roman Catholic Church; it just gets more publicity there. It is a sign of fallen man, no matter to which denomination they belong. It receives even less publicity when a non-Christian falls in this way.

It is good to have the facts: thank you for posting them. I guess, if this had been another Board (other than HC4u), many "Protestants" would be jumping on the band-wagon now condemning Roman Catholic priests out of hand. I put the word "Protestants" in quotes, because true Christians seek only the best in others and do not (according to Scripture) condemn others who believe and practice their faith in a different way than themselves. That's what I like about the HC4u Board; we may not always agree with each other, but we graciously agree to disagree in a true Christian spirit.

I'll come down now out of the pulpit!

God bless

There are plenty in many Christian denominations who fall. WE should pray for our pastors and priests regularly. It's very important.

The percentages are extremely low and surprisingly have nothing to do with celibacy.
Gay priests are not allowed to creep in anymore.

Hi Olivet,

The problem lies with the rule of thumb that you give them an inch and they will take a mile?

Married priests today and wives that are priests tomorrow???....!

Where does it all end I wonder?  A woman pope perhaps!!!....?

Yours in Christ,

Colin.

PS.  I look at Jesus Christ and conclude that He had to be either man or woman for He could not be both now could He!!!....!

Colin

There are lots of women in ministry, there are many many deacons, but only the priest as male can consecrate the the elements of bread and wine that they might become for us the body and blood of our Lord.  Just so very beautiful, so sacred, so divine is this moment and so very life changing.  As the article said, the priest stands in for Our Lord in this consecration and the ideal of a non married priest comes quite close to Jesus's life on earth....I was listening to a priest describe his childhood, after school when the other kids would rush home to play, he would rush down to the family basement and play priest, his love affair has never ended.  St Francis of Assisi, who remained a celibate deacon talks of his battle with lust and quite possibly even if he had married, this sin would have emerged.
Some men, with children who's spouse had passed away do become priests later on in life.  The celibate priest is as St. Paul who said he wished that all be as him who never missed the married life and knowing his travails , it would have been terribly hard on his wife and kids.  Some men dedicate a portion of their lives and later on do marry.  Some have and have had awesome ministries and being celibate has been a powerful help.
This is out of my domain, for women, Mary and motherhood are the ideal and according to Jesus is the highest calling

Hi Olivet,

Unfortunataly my Church, The Church of England, do not agree with you, that is why you now have priests with wives too!  We also have Wife Priest's with men spouses too!  Unfortunatly!!!....?

Transubstantiation, the lack of it, could well be the reason why we have women priests too!  But not to worry your Church has a simple solution to your temporary embarrassment regarding your fresh intake, conversions, it's called mortality!  They will tend to fall down and die you know in the not to distant future!

But isn't The LORD wonderful He does not need a priest to commune with us, His Children, He has The HolyGhost to do it for Him!

Yours in Christ,

Colin.

PS.  Mind you if they see the HolyGhost at the Table of The Last Supper in Church it will definitely be a revealing earth shattering experience now won't it.

PPS.  Come to think of it last night my Parish Priest and two others applied the Holy Unction to my wifes head and wrists with the Laying on of hands following.  Do you know I got an Anointing around the old brain box as well all through the ritual in our Great Hall at home!

PPPS.  And yes, "Isn't the LORD wonderful when He touches you with His Everlovingtenderkindness!!!....!
