Someone threw a sentence at me and it got my mind in a whirl

"Darkness is what allows us to see the light"

What do you think?
Is this God's reason for allowing Satan?

Is darkness not the absence of light

Darkness is the absence of light. Can't miss the light when it comes and was not there before!

But I have given much thought to the idea of comparitives. That doesn't seem to be a word. Let me explain.

Would we know what sweet tasted like if we didn't have sour?

Would we know what pain felt like if we didn't have periods of pain free?

Would we know what happiness was if we didn't have times of sadness?

Is there anything in the bible about this?

I think it goes along with the "Darkness is what allows us to see the Light", David. But if I'm way off base tell me.

Yes I believe darkness is the absence of light

And yes we do need a base for comparison for almost everything in our lives
Who was it that said (Archimedes?) "give me a point to lean on and I'll move the Earth"?

A great part of music is the quiet bits in between notes
A wall is white especially if we have a little black spot on it

How could we possibly focus on Yeshua if the whole universe was one huge light?
For that matter how would Yeshua be special if everything was Yeshau?
How could we know sin if everything in the world was sin?

The more I think about it the more I understand the need for Satan in the world

Lucifer was the most beautiful of all the Holy angels and was created to be our teacher.  But he had pride and revolted against the most high.  His fall removed all the light and left him to be satan, hideous and evil

I think Lucifer could only become a teacher after he turned into Satan

An interesting Concept Olivet,

Too deep for my mind just now?

Have you got Scriptural authority Olivet to make the above quote please?

Yours in Christ,

Colin.

PS.  Most beautiful Olivet,

Looking at the two carvings of St Michael and St. Gabriel in my churches prayer chapel where they are handing their Phoenician Crowns back in to the LORD, really!

Hi Olivet,

That is great, I am under pressure at the moment and am having to take things easy!  Will come back to them later if I can.  Those two Bible Quotes are good for this thread, I have always ranked Satan below the position of the other six Archangels because of his rebellion against The Father!

Yours in Christ and The LORD'S PRESENCE,

Colin.

The fall relegated us a little below the angels and therefore subject to satan.  But the work on the cross, the passion and resurrection has placed us above the angels and therefore no longer subject to satan devil
